Why I Don’t Do Mini Sessions? | Family & Children’s Photographer | Vancouver, BC

I often get asked the question, “Do you do mini sessions?” the answer - “No.” You may be asking yourself why don’t we do mini sessions?? Simple. We value quality and strive to provide the best services to our clients so you can sit back and relax knowing you are fully taken care of and are receiving the best quality images.

I used to do mini sessions every fall, and found that they are often very rushed with 20-30 minutes of shooting time. By the time you’ve settled your baby, found the perfect location or pose, or wrangled your kids in for a family photo, there are a few quick snaps and then your session is over. No time to make sure the not so little details like misplaced hair, hands, clothing, lighting are addressed.  No time to settle in and get comfortable in front of the camera so you don’t feel awkward and look your best. When you feel comfortable and relaxed this translates to your images and you look natural. There is also nothing worse than arriving late to a mini session only to find out that you have even less time available.

So are mini sessions completely off the table?? I believe there is something for everyone, and whether it’s due to budget constraints or simply not knowing the difference, as long as you know what you are paying for and are happy with the results then I think that’s all that matters. In order to show the differences I’ve created a quick snapshot below to help show the comparison between a mini session and a full session and what’s included.
