Capturing Generations: A Grandparents & Grandkids Photography Session | Kalamalka Lake Park, Coldstream, Vernon BC

This sweet extended family session took place on a trail near Kalamalka Lake Park, Coldstream, just outside of Vernon, BC. These photos were a special gift for the kids' grandma, who had been hoping for updated photos with her grandbabies.

One of the things I love about mini sessions is that they're short and sweet; perfect for families with young kids. We had originally planned to hike up to a viewpoint, but as any parent knows, that's often easier said than done! Instead, we found some beautiful greenery and a wildflower-filled meadow just off the trail, with gorgeous golden hour light filtering through the trees.

Family sessions with young children are wonderfully unpredictable. There are often moments of laughter and smiles, mixed in with snack breaks, exploring, and sometimes even a few tears. That's all completely normal, and it's why I always encourage parents to trust the process. The magic isn't in perfect behaviour; it's in capturing genuine connection and the season of life you're in right now.

This gallery is proof that even when a session feels a little chaotic in the moment, beautiful photos full of love and connection are still possible.
