Mother’s Day Ideas | Vancouver, BC | by Felicia Bates

Looking for some unique Mother’s Day ideas for mom? Want to skip the flowers and chocolate? Want to get mom something she’ll really love? Check out some unique ideas and experiences below that mom will really love and appreciate!

1) Plan an Adventure Day

Living in beautiful British Columbia we have some amazing locations that are close by. Why not plan an adventure day, is there a hike you’ve been talking about doing? How about an area of the city you’ve been wanting to check out? Head out to a local lake or mountain and take in some scenic views. What about a day trip to Whistler for a quick escape? Pack up the car and let’s hit the road to celebrate with Mom!

2) Plan a Family Picnic

Celebrate with some quality family time and plan a picnic! Pic Your Nic provides luxury pop-up picnics and they provide everything so all you need to do is show up! It couldn’t get any easier with their one-stop-shop service and ALL their beautiful setups and décor, and catering is even included. They even have games and add-ons like a fire pit for those chilly days. Not your average picnic, this definitely is a unique experience that Mom and the whole family will enjoy!

3) Book a Spa Treatment

We all know mom’s work hard and are so deserving of some self-care! As a fellow mom, I know that there’s nothing I appreciate more then some rest, relaxation and pampering! Why not book a mom and daughter spa day? Get a relaxing massage and take a dip in the hot tub or sauna. Why not get a manicure or pedicure too while you’re at it? I love a spa day and some of my favorite places to unwind are Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, JW Marriott Spa at Parq, and Chi Spa at the Shangri-La.

4) Plan a Date Night

Hubby’s this one’s for you! We want to make mom feel beautiful, special and loved. Why not plan a special date night including hair and makeup for the wifey to get all glammed up! As a mom that knows how hard we can be on ourselves, and how after so many changes our bodies go through postpartum, we may not feel quite like ourselves, having someone do our hair and makeup like Faye Smith Agency for a night on the town would be so incredible and a confidence boost! Sometimes we need that extra pampering to remind us that we are beautiful just as we are, and that bodies change and that’s okay.

5) Book a Facial Treatment

My new thing has been facials! It’s quick and easy to do and I always feel so pampered. Who doesn’t love glowing skin?! If you have a few things planned throughout the day for Mom why not book a facial. My favorite places to go are Plain Jane Skin Bar, Formula Fig and Skoah. Not sure what facial to book? I personally love anything that adds hydration to my skin, and a bonus is that these facials typically don’t need any down time so Mom doesn’t have to worry about looking red or blotchy. She’ll have smooth, beautiful and glowing skin to enjoy!

6) Take Her on a Shopping Spree

Mom deserves to be pampered and the one thing I find is that I never wear anything but leggings and oversized sweaters. While there’s nothing wrong with that, I often found myself looking in my wardrobe filled with my pre-baby clothes that don’t fit and feeling like I have nothing to wear. Instead of shopping for myself, I always seem to be shopping for the whole family, instead why not make the focus on Mom!

7) Solo Time

Can mom’s have a day for themselves on Mother’s Day? absolutely! Sometimes asking what she wants to do is key, let Mom decide what she wants even if it’s an overnight solo staycation for one. Yep, that’s right! I love being a Mom but ‘me time’ is so limited. Sometimes alone time can be what we really want. As mother’s we often think of ourselves last so it can be nice to put ourselves first.
